Meet Stella!

Stella is half Shih Tzu and half wire-haired Dachsund according to the vet and original owner.  Her human mom died and she is now in my foster care.  She is 7 weeks old and 7 pounds so she will be small but not a tiny dog.  She is adorable and almost looks brindle in color with a wolf pup face.
(See more pics at end)

She seems to be perfectly normal. Playful, smart, sleeps fine, good solid poops, runs, etc.  She eats 3 times a day and will follow you (and your dogs anywhere).  She is in the process of being house broken still. She has had her first round of shots, been dewormed and deflead.   She loves to go for rides.

She is being crate trained as well. She will bark for 10 minutes (she has a very loud voice for a small dog, lol) and then stops for the night.  She loves to take naps on my slippers, shoes or on my dirty clothes piled up. She can also swim already.

Stella is up for ADOPTION.  This will require a home visit first and reference checks if you are not already signed up with a foster/adoption group and a donation to the BTRTOC so she is not "free to a good home". We want the right home and you could be it!

If you are interested or know of a great home, please contact me at meador.karla@gmail.com.

Thanks for reading. I do appreciate it.
Karla

GREAT dog/animal day for me!

Today I had a few fun surprises:

1.  I have been watching 3 small birds develop from 3 eggs in a flower pot on my deck. They flew away yesterday and today I heard them talking loudly. They were flying back and forth, between 2 of my big trees.  Three small grey birds with reddish bodies darting in an out as if to say "Hi. Look at us. We have feathers now and we can fly!".  Krystarla, Yvonne, and Renee are grown, safe and no longer come back to the nest. Bittersweet.

2.  Maisy is 16+ years old and takes arthritis meds and supplements.  Most days she moves at a slow pace and long ago stopped jumping.  Today she heard a dog bark and just flew off my deck and LEAPED over 3 steps onto the driveway. I cringed but she was fine upon landing and kept running to meet a neighbor dog at the fence. She is my hero.

3.  Sam has learned to avoid Buddy when we run (they run together but Buddy is so hyper he aggravates Sam who is trying harder to run given age and size).  Sam rides the golf cart until Buddy gets tired then he just steps off and starts running with him. Smart dog.

4.  Shanti has been through 13 weeks of healing her broken leg. She is still walking very delicately on her leg (cast is off now) and usually walks on 3 legs. Today she kept pulling to get off the golf cart so she could run some too. She IS the runner of my brood but has not been able to run, swim, or jump for over 3 months.  I let her off and she galloped about 1/2 mile.  She was SO happy.  Her leg moves a little funny but each day it is getting better.  She was just in heaven off the golf cart and running again. All smiles. My girl loves to run.

5. Went on a home visit for one of my rescue groups to check out a home before they adopt.  Heartwarming to meet other like-minded people. Open, talkative, happy, well adjusted people,  who have great pets and you can just tell (gut) their pets are of paramount importance in their household. I do not know why but we foster/rescuers are getting deluged right now with dogs that need homes so I am so happy to find more GOOD ones that are opening up to take more great dogs in need of real homes.  God Bless.

So yes, I had a good day.   And I am thankful.

Why is this little dog following me everywhere? Hell, I don't know know where I am going most the time.

Back it up kid. Heck, I poop bigger than you. - Maisy Moo Pig

Why would I nap anywhere else?

When you open it, I want to be here. So for now I pretend to sleep. - Maisy Moo Pig
(She has been MOO PIG since the day I got her because of the grunting sounds she makes and she snores)
