Check out the IfDogsTalked family.....

No one in this house reads but me so the newspaper article is a little wasted on the dogs, but they enjoyed the company of the writer and dog lover, Sarah Melton.  Enjoy!

Man, I could really go for a Wendy's frosty right now. And have your tried the new fries with sea salt Buddy?  Mmmm.  I like to dip my fries in my frosty but mom doesn't like it because I make a mess all over her precious truck. - Shanti

Now that I can see you better...

I can tell you are my mom.  We really DO look alike, have the same expressions and have to live with others basking in our beauty.  - Buddy

It's been a paper towel morning....

I can tell the weather by the actions of my dogs:

Do not get up, snuggle in beds- cold and rainy
Pee on walkway- drizzle
Pee just outside the door- rain
Pee inside house near the door- hard rain or severe cold
Poo under porch- rain
Poo in the house- terrifying weather, storms.

And this morning, after several warm days, then suddenly cold today- 2 pees and 1 poop by my dining room table, near the door. I call this one "changing weather" and "lack of adaption". Sounds like the name for a painting.

Get along now....

This is my bone. Do not come any closer kid. - Domino

Uggie the Movie Star

Uggie

Uggie was rescued when he was only 2. He is now a 10 year old Jack Russell Terrier.  Two families decided not to keep Uggie because he was wild with energy. His trainer heard about him and took him in as a foster- and fell in love and kept him, along with 7 other dogs, to star in movies. Uggie has been in 3 movies, most recently winning awards for his performance in The Artist.

Uggie's chances at the pound would not have been good because of his lively personality. However, that no fear attitude works well on movie sets- well, that and sausage treats.  Every dog has its place, and perfect owners/partners in life.  Congrats Uggie!

What the heck is this?

Most dogs ride around on their favorite blanket or bedding.  I am sitting on what looks to be a paper towel in the back seat. What is WRONG with you people? - Ellen

But Mom!

I know it is past midnight.  And I can hear the neighbors screaming for me to stop barking so they can sleep.  But I want to play more BALL. Please throw the BALL.  I love my BALL.- Bea

PS- I really really love my BALL.

Which dog is blind?

The neighbors are outside (2 O'clock position) and three dogs are looking at them. One thinks he is....

Shanti the lab mix loves to be outside on the deck, when it is cooler "on watch". (However, she doesn't know how to get off the deck by herself - true story).

The boxers love to be inside, soaking up the sun through the glass and only pretend to care about trespassers (and they do not pretend very hard and fall asleep quickly as they warm themselves like bread in an oven).

Blind Buddy loves to be on guard and obviously has this "guard dog" job covered he thinks.  He is the most alert of the four dogs Sad huh?

On a side note, I took the dogs for a walk at dusk and four deer ran beside us in the woods by the road.  ONLY Buddy could "see" them or notice.  The other three trotted right along within feet of the deer and never turned their way.  Yep, Buddy is the best hope I have for protection.

I keep having a bad feeling.....

Like I am about to fall but I know I am pointed up, right?! - Blind Buddy

On a serious note, Buddy underwent surgery to get new lens for both eyes due to juvenile cataracts. That, along with weak retinas pretty much rendered him blind.  He is now recovering and slowly regaining vision that will continue to improve over the next 3-5 weeks.   Two very cool observations:
1.  Before surgery, Buddy could only aim his head in the general direction of a noise and could not see me, objects, furniture, dogs, etc. Yesterday, for the first time ever, I saw Buddy sitting in my kitchen actually looking around, taking in the surroundings and I knew then he was starting to regain his vision!  His little eyes were focused in on everything around him and slowly he would go from one object to another.
2.  I have only had Buddy a month and when we play outside I will yell for him and he comes running. Most of the time he either runs into another dog or flies past me and doesn't stop until I call his name (misses me entirely).  Today as I walked around he jumped from about 3-4 feet away and nailed me in the leg, playing of course. I knew he had set his eyes on the target.

Both made me smile.  Much thanks to BTRNC for helping make it possible for one cool little dude to be able to see again.  Buddy freakin rocks.

To My Foster Mom (or Dad)

There I sat, alone and afraid,
You got a call and came right to my aid.
You bundled me up with blankets and love.
And, when I needed it most, you gave me a hug.
I learned that the world was not all that scary and cold.
That sometimes there is someone to have and to hold.
You taught me what love is, you helped me to mend.
You loved me and healed me and became my first friend.
And just when I thought you'd done all you do,
There came along not one new lesson, but two.
First you said, "Sweetheart, you're ready to go.
I've done all I can, and you've learned all I know."
Then you bundled me up with a blanket and kiss.
Along came a new family, they even have kids!
They took me to their home, forever to stay.
At first I thought you sent me away.
Then that second lesson became perfectly clear.
No matter how far, you will always be near.
And so, Foster Mom, you know I've moved on.
I have a new home, with toys and a lawn.
But I'll never forget what I learned that first day.
You never really give your fosters away.
You gave me these thoughts to remember you by.
We may never meet again, and now I know why.
You'll remember I lived with you for a time.
I may not be yours, but you'll always be mine.

Maisy Mom

Damn, they found me. One son is blocking my morning rays of sunshine. The other son is hogging my bed, and blowing me kisses out his backend.  I didn't birth these babies, so not sure why they think I am their mom. I just want peace and quiet, to rest in my grey years.  That is the last time I forget to shut the door. - Maisy Moo Mom

Have you seen my squeeky bone?

Sam and I have looked everywhere for it. I love to squeeze it so much, especially when you are on the phone working.  I just cannot seem to find it and you know I can't see.- Buddy Love

Helpful Health Tip

Did you know dogs can now have Stem Cell Therapy?  The vet uses the dogs own fat cells to make the stem cells and injects them into the area that is damaged like joints, ligaments and cartilage.  Almost all dogs see some improvement over the span of 4-6 months.

It is used mostly for older dogs (instead of hip replacement surgery) and costs much less at around $1800 per procedure.  It is also less traumatic for the dog patient.

So if you have a pet with arthritis, or joint issues, that is in pain...AND they have a lot of good life otherwise left in them....check into a vet that offers this new technology.

Happy Running to all.

Okay, so the water is a little dirty.

It could mean several things. It doesn't mean I peed or pooped in the water. Or that my feet were muddy.
Frankly, I cannot remember what all I have done in my new pool.  Regardless, drop in a chlorine tablet, put your big girl panties on and join me.  - Bea (Beatrix, rescued Treewalker Coonhound)

Go Mr. Quiggly (French Bulldog)

The pictures tell the story....

Walking down the street I spot this gorgeous boy, looking tough through the bars.....

As I get closer, he stares right back at me. I still cannot judge his disposition toward me.

Now I know. He is a love machine.  A very well taken care of boy.  I share a moment with him and a few kisses.

My kisses are more addictive than I thought. He howls for more as I leave. Take a number kid.

One day.

You live your life. A good life or so you think. Then one day you wake up and really take a hard look around.
You are living out of a crate, near a pier and smell like day old fish. Yea, you still have your looks but how long will that last.  You ask yourself..."How did I get here?" and "Why am I living this way?" "Who the hell's red crate is this anyway?"

When do you think we get to leave?

I am sure this is the way out. I saw mom leave this way and I will not rest until I know she is coming back. Do you think that bright light is her returning for us? Shanti and Samson

(Please come get us mom.  We don't know what to do without you....well, except to tear this place up in our anguish).

Lapdog, top dog, love-me dog

Sam weighs about 70 lbs and thinks he is a puppy still or a small lapdog.  Everyone that visits is subject to his lovable way of maneuvering onto their lap.

I am not too heavy am I? - Samson
