'Dead Dog Beach' by Stephen McGarva
If you did not see this article in any newspaper, please get the book and help support his efforts:
THE RESCUE AT DEAD DOG BEACH:
One Man's Quest to Find a Home for the World's Forgotten Animals
By Stephen McGarva. Dey Street Books. 240 pages. $25.99 new.
(and buy some tissues for the read)
Stephen has done a lot to help the street mutts left to die in Puerto Rico, using his own personal funds and ignoring local residents' threats toward him. It is a shame how animals are treated in some areas, yet encouraging as you find people like Stephen all over the world, helping those that can't help themselves. There are many of us that "pick up other people's slack".
These dogs are at the mercy of humans, too many people are unkind. I wonder what makes people like that- without empathy or care for other living beings? I know wherever I go, I try to feed, rescue and support animals. It is my way of giving back and knowing I am doing the right thing. Stephen has really made it his life's mission and he is my Tuesday DOG RESCUE hero. Stephen McGarva.
So thank you Stephen. People like you keep me motivated and looking for ways to help. All my best to you and the dogs you save.
Karla
