Yep. I slayed the monster.
So much for your tough John Deere, thick roped toy. I tore that bitch apart in 2 minutes, ripped its squeaking heart out, tore out all the stuffing, and laid it at your feet. NEXT. - Buddy the Ripper

Wanted: Foster homes and permanent homes for dogs (and cats)
I am amazed at the number of people who do not know about all the rescue groups, shelters, pounds, and foster homes out there for dogs. If someone reading this wins the lottery, let's put out TV ads to educate. Just call me okay?
Today my concrete guy asked if Sam my boxer was up for adoption (he knows I rescue dogs). I said "no, but they rescue groups are full of pure breeds, even young ones'. I gave him the link for Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue where I have fostered, then adopted 3 boxers. For $300 you get a good dog (often beyond puppy bad habits), shots, spay/neuter, micro-chipped, etc. It is a great deal for an awesome pet. It was for his sister-in-law and she called right away. GOOGLE will show you the way, for those of us on computers or smart phones.
Help get the word out (my wood guy did not know where to find a dog either and adopted Alfie from me- boxer mix) to people you know. About 25% of the MILLIONS of dogs/cats put to sleep each year in the USA are purebreds. We do not need more breeders. Get tougher rules/permits around breeding and make spaying/neutering available to all (many cheaper services to help out on cost, versus standard vet charges). Also mobile services for elderly and indigent. Donations would pay for it; cheaper than rescuing and fostering unwanted pets.
There are non-breeder dogs on Craigslist, Vet bill boards, in local paper and pet newsletters, flea markets, rescue groups, shelters, pounds, etc. So many sources of good animals. Almost every breed of dog now has a rescue group to help find them new homes. Breeds that used to be harder to get like English Bulldogs, Pugs, Great Danes, etc.
Fostering is great. If you love the pet, you keep it. Like I did. And spay/neuter. Offer to help someone take their pet. Pay for it. You can find services for as low as $25 for a male if you look for a special from someone like the HSUS (Humane Society). In 7 years, we could eradicate this overpopulation problem and then have the approximate amount of dogs/cats to owner demand. Only the sick, badly injured, dangerous animals would need euthanasia. Right now, a lot of great, beautiful, young, even pure breed dogs live only a few hours or days before killed. Let's fix this. Every little effort adds up. And you made a difference in a life. Thank you for reading, and LOVING your pets. Let's continue to love others' pets.
