Where did I get my dogs?

I am often asked that question.  So here it goes for the ones I have adopted (all fosters at first):

1. Maisy- got her from  Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue on her kill date. Her and husband Harley were going to be put down after 6 months in shelter. Older dogs, no one wanted them and I could not let them both die.  She was 7 at the time and she is now 15.5 years old. Never thought she would live so long but very glad.  Never had anyone want to adopt her due to age.

2.  Shanti - was a small  black lab/chow pup running around in parking lot (living there) in the cold.  A friend saw her and begged me to take her. I did, figuring someone would adopt her quick. Too many small black mixed breeds. She has been here every since. Now people want her all the time (trained). She is 4 and goes everywhere with me that I let her.

3.  Samson- met a new friend who had bought him as a gift.  He was on his 2nd or 3rd home in 2 years, lived in a kennel without much exercise. So when he was let out, he would chew and go crazy.  I run/walk him daily, give him toys to chew and work with his food allergies (that went unnoticed).    Everyone wants Sam now and thinks he is super handsome.  With Harley's passing of old age, Sam is the man boxer of the house. It took me a year to get his allergies under control and in that time, I decided he is not up for adoption. No more change.

4.  Buddy the Boston Terrier came through the BTRNC. A friend has 2 and convinced me to foster a BT.
Buddy was hyper, jumped and nipped, and peed in the house (could not be housebroken), and was almost blind due to juvenile cataracts.  I am his 5th home in 5 years (between permanent and rescues).  We all chipped in and got eye surgery so he can see and be normal.  He is much better getting exercise each day and a big yard to play in.  We are still a work in progress for indoor peeeing, but I remain optimistic that one day- it will all be fine.  He also has people that want him when they see us together walking. He is tiny and cute.  I adopted him officially early summer since he will never have perfect eyesight and does great here.

Della the Dingo Dog. - Rescued 1 year ago and now lives safely with my mother when not found boating on Lake Norman.
